Hello, I'm Mike Lawrence and the owner of The Woodcarver's Cabin. This Virtual Cabin has several rooms and areas for you to browse so please feel free to come in and take a look around.
On my Home page you will find woodcarving news, upcoming events, and links to current or recent carving projects. If I have made significant changes to the site you will advised of that on the home page as well.
In the Library you will find woodcarving related articles, along with patterns and an assortment of wallpaper for your computer desktop.
Browse the Showcase and you will find a variety of carvings on display from Duck Decoys to Santas.
In the Workshop is where I keep my notes and articles on how I carved certain projects.
In the Santas room you will find only Santas that I have carved.
In the Decoys room you will find images of Decoys that I have carved.
I originally posted The Woodcarvers Cabin web site in the early days of the Internet and have maintained it ever since. It was one of the first Woodcarving sites on the World Wide Web.
Unlike some who are initially interested in carving then after a period of time leave it behind, I have never wandered far from the carving bench. I first became interested in carving in 1990 when I began to notice hand carved duck decoys for sale and thought that I just might be able make one myself. Since that time I have tried to improve my skills as much as possible.
I started my collection of books and resources in an effort to learn what I could about woodcarving. Yes, it is an art. Something to be studied, tried and improved upon. I also began my collection of knives and other woodcarving tools.

My collection after these past 18 years has become fairly large and I do have quite a few tools that I used only for a short time, then laid aside. The search for just the right tool can get rather expensive.
This is one important reason that one who is new to woodcarving is better served to join a woodcarving club or organization, if at all possible to learn from those with experience in not only carving but also in the acquiring of the proper tools. If a club you can visit is not close by, look for someone with experience from whom you can seek advice.
If I can be of assistance feel free to contact me. I hope you like my web site and check back often. I’m always looking for ways to improve the site. If you have any suggestions or would like to see something added to the site that is not presently included please e-mail me with your suggestion. If you have a woodcarving event that you would like me to list let me know about that as well.
