The Woodcarver’s Cabin
I originally started this web site in the early days of the internet. It was one of the first wood carving sites to exist on web. We’ve made some really big changes recently, as those of you familiar with the site can see. So welcome one and all to the all new TheWoodcarversCabin.com. Please take a look around, you’re sure to find something of interest. You’ll find wood carving related articles in the Library. There are plenty of free wood carving patterns for you to download and use in the Patterns section. In the Workshop you’ll find How-To and step-by-step articles, and also get a glimpse of projects throughout the many stages of completion. While you’re here, take a look at my Showcase where you can see some of my unique handmade carvings on display. Make yourself at home and enjoy The Woodcarver’s Cabin. We’ll be adding new content frequently, so check back again soon for more wood carving information and resources.
Mike and Carving
I have other hobbies and interests, but I have never wandered far from carving since I first became interested in the early 90’s. Since then I have tried to improve my wood carving skills as much as possible. Like many others, I started my collection of books and resources in an effort to learn what I could about the art of wood carving. Yes, it is an art. Something to be studied, tried and improved upon. As my collection of resources grew, so did my collection of knives and other wood carving tools as well, and after all these years has become fairly large. There have been many tools along the way that I used only briefly and set aside in search of just the right tool for a particular task, which can at times be rather elusive. This is one reason why someone new to wood carving is better served to join a woodcarving club or organization if possible. So they have the opportunity to learn firsthand from those with experience in not only carving, but also in the acquiring of good and proper tools. If there is not a wood carving club in your area, there are many resources and communities available online that can also help in this respect, including The Woodcarver’s Cabin. So if you have any questions regarding how to go about carving a particular project, or which tool or brand of tool would be best, or anything else wood carving related, I would be glad to give you my opinion. It will only be my opinion, but it will be based on many years of wood carving experience. So if you have a question, don’t hesitate to contact me. If I don’t know the answer, I probably know someone who does.
I would like again to welcome you to The Woodcarver’s Cabin. I hope that you’ll enjoy it and will benefit from the information and resources available here. Check back often. We’ve got big things in store for the new site.
